PATTERN DETAILS

These little owls are only 3" tall, but full of character. This is a quick and easy project and an addictive knit. It's fun to knit more than one! Luckily these odd birds make great party favors or stocking stuffers. A friend of mine knitted seven of these owls and turned them into a nursery mobile. For an ADVENTUROUS BEGINNER knitter because the construction uses short row shaping (explained in the pattern) and a little bit of knitting in the round on dpns. Parts of the owl are knitted separately and then sewn on. HINTS AND TIPS to help you with this pattern are available on my blog http://nattyknitter.wordpress.com this is mentioned in the pattern. I'm an expat Brit living in the San Francisco Bay Area and a stay at home Mum. I'm also an avid knitter with many ideas for interesting designs using unusual construction and techniques. My Mum taught me to knit when I was 7 years old, I thought I'd forgotten it but when I came back to knitting 7 years ago I discovered that it was all still there. I love to knit in 3D and around corners, so I use knitting in the round and short row shaping in many of my designs. I'd also prefer not to sew lots of pieces together, so my knitted toy designs have as little sewing as I can manage.
