Cowls are a quick knit and make fun gifts. They are great for cold weather to keep necks toasty warm without the bulk of a long scarf. For this pattern, you will need to know how to cast on, knit, make cables, increase and decrease stitches and bind off. It is a medium skill level project. The pattern consists of 10 repeating rows and it is recommended that you keep track of each row by using a row counter or use the handy check off grid at the end of this pattern. This pattern is worked in rounds in circular needles, so you will always be working the 'right side'. Sizing can be altered by using different weight yarn and changing the size of the knitting needles. Following the pattern below will create a cowl that measures approximately 7.5 inches wide and 27 inches circumference. I used two strands of Lion's Brand Wool Ease for the cowl pictured. I've been knitting all my life and currently spend most of my waking hours thinking about new ways to knit classic accessories. I love to spin my own yarn, learn new knitting techniques and get creative with felted wool.
