Olive is a cardigan that celebrates the beauty of twisted stitches, both in its allover "dots" cable stitch pattern, and in the ribbing of the shawl collar, sleeves and edging. It's knit in one piece from the bottom-up. The closest thing to a seam you'll encounter is the 3-needle bind off at the shoulders. The front bands and set-in sleeves are worked by picking up stitches and shaping with short rows. The main stitch pattern is given in both charted and written format, so you can work from whichever you're most comfortable with. Pattern includes schematic with detailed measurements. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Basic knitting skills Knitting and purling stitches through the back loop Cables Decreasing Knitting in the round with DPN's Picking up stitches Working short rows GAUGE On size US 2 1/2 (3.00mm) needles, after wet blocking. 32 sts & 44 rows = 4" (10cm) in Twisted Dots pattern, moderately stretched to open out stitch pattern. 29 sts & 41 rows = 4" (10cm) in Stockinette stitch. I've been blissfully obsessed with creating things since way back when my legs were too short to reach the floor while sitting at a table. I LOVE to knit (and sew, and have been meaning to learn a little more crochet...). Aside from my crafty obsessions, I adore books, audio books, feeding the people I love, colors, nature, playing outside, a good nights sleep, learning new things, daydreaming, pondering the ridiculousness of the world, nerdy history and science related books/shows/movies, how I feel after vigorous activity, finding new things to love, catching glimpses of what the world looks like through my daughter's eyes, cute furry animals, this list could go on and on .... I think the online community for crafty people is amazing, and I'm so glad to be a part of it. =)
