In this warm and cozy neck cowl, a lace collar and band are worked around the neck, stitches are then picked up and more lace is worked downward with increases towards shoulders. A worsted weight yarn is used with larger needles for a softer more open knitted piece. Hat matches the cowl in pattern and uses a smaller needle size for a more firm fit. Supplies Needed

  • Worsted weight with a gauge of 5sts/inch is suggested for both the cowl and hat. For the cowl, you will be using a needle that is 2-3 times bigger than for the hat to increase the gauge. • Cowl: One 16" circular needle in US7 - 9 depending on gauge.

I grew up surrounded by a family that appreciates art and crafts. I first learned to sew. Then embroider. Then, reluctantly, knitting. I knit every day. and it has been 30 years. I also am a batik on silk artist. Something I have been playing with for over 20 years. And while I have never taken a class I have invented my own personal style.
