PATTERN DETAILS

Excerpt from the pattern: Winter is here and school going kids definitely need to stay warm. In order to make sure that my son stays warm even if he has taken off most of his layers, I thought it would be best to knit him a warmer, popularly known as dickey. I remember wearing these myself when I was a child, even though winters back home were not so severe. Now, living through harsh winters makes it essential for the whole family to stay warm. Apart from being so useful, warmers are also in trend in the current season. Even major magazines like Vogue have some of these available in their latest issues. 'No More Cold' is my own concoction. It begins with a long ribbed collar, and incorporates contiguous shaping at the shoulders for a great fit. The front and back are then knit flat to the desired size. Sample shown is made with my own hand dyed yarn - DesiLoop Superwash Merino Worsted (Can be purchased through my ETSY & NIMBLESTIX stores), in the Wild Pansy Colorway. You will also see a soft unlabelled acrylic yarn version further along the pattern. (kids definitely need accessories that are washable). The shoulders on child sizes and above are made using contiguous technique developed by Susie Myers, and hence the pattern will serve as a good premiere in getting acquainted with this technique. In the pictures, the brown tonal sample is made with DesiLoop Superwash Merino Worsted Yarn; the Yellow sample is made with an unnamed acrylic worsted yarn with a car embroidery on the front.
