Both my grandson and I needed a bag or case to protect our netbooks, so I designed this to fit exactly our specifications - it needed to have a tailored, seamless, clean look; be protective, be adaptable to any size, and be a quick knit. You will learn the very easy one-color double-knitting technique that enables you to knit the bag flat, yet produce a fabric that has in-the-round construction (minus any seams). There is also a short tutorial on producing the celtic knot seen on the front of the bag. I added it as an embellishment only, and you may choose to leave it out entirely or make a button-and-loop closure, or whatever your imagination tells you works best. To achieve the size and texture of the original pattern, you will felt the bag upon completing the knitting; however, you may experiment with sizing and leave it unfelted if that's your preference. If you will be using it to protect a netbook, iPad, laptop, etc., the felting definitely gives a nice firm, cushion-y fabric. The following techniques are clearly included in the pattern: double knitting technique (one-color, knit flat to produce a seamless in-the-round bag) icord tie Celtic Knot shown on the front brief description of my felting technique GAUGE 10 stitches and 15 rows = 4 inches in Double Knit Stockinette Gauge is not critical, as the felting process allows you to keep checking the bag until you achieve the size you require SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS The instructions are for a netbook with a finished size of 10-1/2” W x 7-1/2” L x 1-3/4” D (gusset area top and bottom).
