The Navajo pattern is a quirky and colorful legging/leg warmer. Knit in a lightweight breathable cotton, these leggings are comfortable, soft and washable. They are perfect for keeping little babies' legs cozy in the colder months or fashionably layering over tights of jeans for older girls. The stranded color work chart is simple to read and follow and would be good as either a first color work project, or a quick and fun project for a more advanced knitter. This pattern uses 4 colors of Knit Pick's Simply Cotton Sport, but multiple pairs of leggings can be made with those four skeins because of the minimum yardage that is needed (perfect for making matching pairs in different sizes!) Pattern includes helpful photos, the color work chart and instructions including notes on all the techniques described. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit and purl increases color work GAUGE 7 stitches/ 8 rows = 1 inch in stockinette stitch SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 0-9 months, 12-18 months, 2T-4T

Recommended with this pattern

  • 100-200 yards of Knit PIck's Simply Cotton Sport in 4 colors

Despite telling my mom years ago that I would never become a knitter, I took up a pair of needles in 2009 and haven’t put them down since! Knitting is an outlet for my creative energy and my desire to always be making things with my hands. My goal as a designer is to create unique knitting patterns; inspired by the beautiful, wild and rugged landscape of the Pacific Northwest--a place I loves to explore and am privileged to call home. I strives to write patterns that are easy to follow and simply enjoyable both to knit and to wear. Keeping busy by day as a wife, mother of three and homemaker, I love to spend my evenings curled up on the couch with a cup of coffee, knitting, planning and sketching my never-ending design ideas. :) If you have an questions about any of my patterns, would like to become a test knitter or to set up a trunk show, please feel free to contact me! I’d love to help!
