I love vintage knitting patterns as they can be chock full of wonderful, unique detailing. This lovely top from the 1940's is a perfect example. The midriff is shaped with short rows, and the bust area is two shaped fan-like strips cleverly used for the bodice. My only departure from the original (other than re-calculating the overall gauge from a finger-cramping 8 stitches per inch to a manageable 5.5 stitches per inch) was on the sleeves. I redesigned them with a more tailored sleeve cap and kept the ribbing design detail continuous throughout. Feel free to add shoulder pads for a very retro silhouette ! GAUGE 5.5 sts and 7 rows over 2x2 ribbing
