This is perfect for leftover bits of yarn from other projects- I used some hand dyed yarn and a teeny tiny ball of leftover Silky Wool to make these. The mouse is knit flat, then seamed and stuffed. You can knit the mouse in any yarn you like- just make sure your stitches are tight so the stuffing doesn't fall out. (Tip: if the yarn you want to use seems to thin and like the stuffing might poke through, hold it double- just remember you will need double the yarn- about 40 yards.) There are two versions included- rounded nose or pointed, plus instructions for making a braided, icord, or crochet tail. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit decrease pick up stitches seam I-cord or crochet for tail 20 yards/ 18 meters dk or worsted weight yarn GAUGE 5 stitches and 8 rows per inch in garter stitch [1 inch = 2.54 cm] SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 2.5 inches/ 6.3 cm long by 1 inch/ 2.5 cm wide after stuffing, not including tail SUGGESTED YARN 20 yards of DK weight PREFERRED BRAND/YARN silky wool

Supplies Needed

  • US 4/3.5 mm knitting needles (straight, circular, or two double pointed needles is fine) or size to get gauge
  • Tapestry needle
  • Small amount of stuffing (wool, fiberfill, a cotton ball or two, or bits of leftover yarn all work well)
