Pattern Details

In Sweden, as long ago as the 17th century a form of knitting was practiced called Tvaandsstickning, or Two-end knitting. Using a strand from each end of a center pull ball of yarn (wound of either one or two colors of yarn), creates a fabric that has great warmth, strength, and durability, and elasticity. This technique takes some patience and effort to master, but will soon reward the tenacious knitter with ease, moderate speed, and lovely garments. This classic Swedish motif was knitted in both men's and women's garments in the area of Hlsingland. This pattern assumes you know nothing about Two-end, or Twined, Knitting. All the techniques and explanations are there to guide you in learning this rewarding method of knitting. Photographs, charts, and schematic are included. GAUGE 13 sts and 13 rnds/2" in Twined St st.
