PATTERN DETAILS

Meet Millie! A side tie Vintage inspired Cloche that's simply perfect for Spring. The band is knit separately in Shine Sport, a cool, lightweight but sturdy blend of cotton and beechwood and the hat portion is knit in Andean Silk, a blend of Alpaca, Wool and luxurious Silk. This pattern incorporates my new most favourite technique.... Double Knitting. For those new to this technique, I have included several helpful step-by-step photos. There are also a few helpful online video tutorials linked in the pattern. Size US#7 16" Circulars are needed for ALL sizes but for the double knit band/tie, you will need either #5 needles (for a small hat) or #6 needles (for a medium hat). Use the #7's for a large hat. Can be easily knit to fit a small child's head: Use US#5 needles for tie and US#7 for the hat but knit 6 fewer rounds in pattern. :) BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Knit Purl Slipped stitches Double knitting (tutorial in pattern & online video link) Cast On K2tog GAUGE : : Gauge for Hat : : Using Worsted weight yarn & #US 7 needles 15 stitches = 3" : : Gauge for Tie : : Using Sport weight yarn & size needle indicated for particular size head Small (18-20" circ.) :: CO 22. While they Play
I am a self taught pattern designer and mom of three children. They're a wild bunch but I keep myself sane by creating the lovely designs that are forever swirling around inside my head...while they play! My design style reads romantic and at times vintage and whimsical. I am getting to do what I love every single day and hope that knitting and crochet never ever goes away!
