PATTERN DETAILS

This is a work of love. It is fairly time - consuming to knit a lace scarf, but oh what joy and pride goes into the wearing! This is my summer wardrobe staple - it makes everything I wear it look great. Do use a lovely linen blend - it adds to the texture and drape, and the design appears crisp and luxurious with a natural sheen. GAUGE 30sts and 42 rows = 10cm in 2.5mm needles. Because this is not a 'fitted' product, the gauge can vary a little ( one or two stitches either way won't detract ). Just make sure that the needle size does not obscure the lace pattern by being too big or too small. You know what I mean! SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS This shawl is approximately 1.7m wide. Of course, you can make it smaller by casting off sooner, if it is a beautiful neckscarf that you want instead.

Recommended with this pattern

  • 700m laceweight yarn, and 2.5mm knitting needles.
  • I used K1 Yarns Laceweight Linen Cotton.
  • You need some uninterrupted time for this project, and great taste in accessories!

I find artistic expression through working with wool - whether knitting, felting, weaving or spinning yarn. I teach knitting classes and do spinning lessons - either one to one or in a group session. And I sell my knitting patterns, felted scarves and textured yarns and art yarns and hand dyed long locks, roving and batts. My online work can be seen on my website www.clovetree.co.uk or on etsy at www.etsy.com/shop/clovetree Now all the above sounds pretty formal and to the point, but truth is, I can be ditsy, off-beat, friendly and a little scatterbrained. Wait - did I just say a little...?
