PATTERN DETAILS

I created these bright, fun hand warmers to take the edge off cold days. Your hands will be toasty and your fingers free to knit, type, text, or whatever! They take just a few hours to make, so they're a great (almost) instant-gratification project. It's a simple pattern and can easily be customized to make the wrist or the hand portion as long as the wearer wants. I like them with a short wrist portion to accommodate bracelets and long sleeves, and a longer hand portion to protect my fingers from my car's chilly steering wheel in the mornings. They are a great stash-buster, too! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY m1R and m1L increases knit on double-pointed needles ribbing GAUGE 4.5 sts and 6 rows = 1 inch in Stockinette stitch SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS One size fits most women's (or small men's) hands: 7" hand circumference and 6.25" finished length. SUGGESTED YARN 100 yards of Worsted weight

Recommended with this pattern

  • 1 set US #9/5.5mm double-point needles

My Name is Wool
My Name is Wool
I live on an orange ranch with my husband and two small children. Keeping them happy is a full-time job, but I still manage to squeeze in some time to knit or draw or sew whenever I can. Even though the days of crafting away an entire afternoon (ok, entire day) are gone, the joy of giving my kids something I made by hand makes up for it. I love the challenge of designing something and ripping it out or starting over and trying again until I make it right. I really, really love to say, "I made that!" One day I plan to write and illustrate some clever children's books, and maybe some strange art books for adults.
