For the Royal Highness in all of us-- Skill Level: Intermediate Craft: Knitting This pattern was inspired by Lucy Pevensie, the youngest ?Daughter of Eve? to become a Queen of Narnia in the classic book series The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. The cabled hatband is reminiscent of a wreath, from which the not-too-bulky tam covers the crown. Made in a bulky-weight yarn, it knits up quickly, and makes a great gift. I have made this hat in both Bernat Softee Chunky and Bernat Alpaca, and it was lovely in both. The Softee Chunky had a little more stiffness to it, though. The softness of the alpaca is what allowed the drape in the adult hat pictured. IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE! I knit rather tightly, and if you do not check your gauge, your hatband could be too large. Adjust needle sizes as necessary to achieve gauge. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit, purl, use Kitchener stitch, cast on, bind off, increase, decrease GAUGE 15.5 stitches and 22 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette on 6.5 mm needles SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS From Toddler through Adult
