About the Pattern I love knitting garter stitch in our Enya base but I'm always looking for new and interesting ways to use garter stitch. That was the beginning idea behind this shawl. How to incorporate lace with the garter stitch for a fun and interesting knit. This is the first in a series of shawls that I'm developing that use garter stitch with lace. This is a simple triangular shawl worked from the top down with increase rows on all right side rows. The alternating sections of garter stitch and lace give you many options for working this shawl in two or more colors for some fun striped effects. The pattern is named after the colorway which is from a Bill Withers song that I adore. For me a Lovely Day is getting a chance to knit with my hand dyed yarns. I hope you enjoy knitting it as much as I did and you too have a Lovely Day.
