Inspired by my years of living in Savannah, Georgia, these top-down socks use a leafy lace pattern, traditional heel, and garter stitch details to evoke the beauty of the Live Oak-lined streets of one of my favorite Southern cities. Dragonfly Fiber's richly colored "Spanish Moss" colorway makes a beautiful compliment to the textured lace pattern. Continuing from the leg, the lace pattern sweeps in mirror-image panels across each instep. Lace is charted only. Work socks with your preferred tubular knitting technique: Magic Loop, 2 Circulars, or DPN. Originally published for Club Dragonwitch, 2011. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Knitting, purling, yarnovers, decreasing, reading a lace chart, knitting in the round. GAUGE 8sts/1" in Stockinette stitch, after blocking. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 8" ankle and instep circumference, lace pattern will stretch generously.

Supplies Needed

My background in fiber arts began as a kid in Connecticut, sewing and crafting, and grew into a pursuit of a degree in fiber arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design (B.F.A. Fibers, 1999). My original major was sequential art (comic book geek), but tactile fibers drew me back in. I still draw pictures, too! I'm a former yarn shop owner, and was the creative mind (and hands) behind Kitchen Sink Dyeworks. I love combining texture and color, the thrill of a curve or angle falling right into place, and love sharing the resulting patterns.
