I'm making these as October donations to my local hospital's nursery. Each newborn gets a basket of goodies including a hand knit or crocheted hat. I have lots of leftover orange yarn (two different shades actually, but that shouldn't matter). This knits up quickly in about 2 hours and will likely fit an infant up to about 11-12 pounds. The mobile pic (not very good, sorry) is of my 5wk old granddaughter who is 11 lbs. Don't want a pumpkin? Leave out the purl stitches, use red yarn, and knit a tomato instead! Need it for a larger infant? Try using Hobby Lobby's "I Love This Yarn" 100% acrylic (very soft too) and larger needles. Follow the same pattern. I have been knitting for 60 years and since the grandchildren arrived have been knitting daily. I decided I wanted to create easy predominantly seamless knitting projects because I love knitting in the round, and more important I hate to sew pieces together! I have had many wonderful comments from knitters who have created items from my patterns and like their finished projects, but should you come across a flaw or something that doesn't seem quite right in the instructions, I hope you will contact me! Contact me at with any of your questions or concerns. You are free to sell your finished items, but please give me credit for the pattern. Thank you and happy knitting!
