PATTERN DETAILS

This elegant jacket has been proved Indispensable - it is one of my most popular and enduring patterns. Perfect for the new knitter, it is simple to make, and impossible to live without, once you have it in your wardrobe. Using a figure-flattering horizontal rib, it can be worked in the length of your choice. Soft DK-weight yarn works up quickly and drapes beautifully. The one button closure gives it definition, or, left open, it's the perfect jacket to wear on the fly. Ingeniously knitted in one piece from the lower back hem and over the shoulder to the front hem, you can make it waist, hip, or knee length. After seaming the sides, the collar is the only real finishing, picked up, knitted in a narrow strip, joined at the opposite side and across the back of the neck. In Alpaca Sport by Frog Tree Yarns Color: 0010 BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit and purl GAUGE GAUGE 9 sts and 4 reverse St st ridges (21 rows) = 2" (5cm). To check gauge, work 18 sts and 8 ridges, see STITCHES below; measurement of center 9 sts and 4 ridges should be 2" (5cm). Gauge must be accurate to ensure correct yardage and finished size.

I can't remember when I couldn't knit, crochet or sew. I am inspired by yarn I find, trends I see on the street, window shopping in Manhattan and suggestions from fellow knitters and crocheters. My goal is to create stylish patterns that are easy to wear, and to find the simplest way to construct them.
