Katie Snowflake is designed as a fun layering piece for girls aged 4 to 12. Two sets of front fastening options and hood options are included in the pattern. One version buttons up and other fastens with a zipper (a photo tutorial for zipper insertion is included in the pattern) The lace pattern is designed to be easy to remember and read, and adds visual impact. The lace instructions are charted AND written. I have worked one version is a hand painted yarn, and one in plain coloured yarn and the lace pattern still manages to define itself no matter which yarn is used. I love designing knitwear for babies and older kids too, I'm inspired by the world around me, whether it's the green bush covered hills where I live, or the bright city lights and sparkling harbor. I try to find a way to incorporate traditional, modern and whimsical elements into every garment I design. Children need to be comfortable and relaxed in their clothing, they need the opportunity to jump and run and paint without restriction. I try to design with these qualities in mind.
