Pattern Details

Socks for every body... I designed this to teach a class to beginners (Yes! BEGINNERS! You CAN knit socks!) There is nothing fancy about these socks--they can be knit BY anyone, FOR anyone. These socks are knit from the cuff down in two basic ribbing styles. They have an eye-of-partridge Dutch Heel flap, and a classically-decreased toe. These socks are formulaic in sizing: you can make them for anyone. Sample stitch counts for an adult sock is given throughout. Choose a fun colourway of sock yarn and dive in--see how fun socks can be! SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate (for knitting in the round and shaping techniques) FORMAT: Adobe PDF File, 6 pages. See printing suggestion below. SIZES: Formulaic, can be made in any size. Example numbers given for a 10" adult foot throughout. GAUGE: 30-34 stitches = 10 cm/4” over Stockinette stitch. Because of the stretchy rib in these socks, gauge is more forgiving, but adjust your needle if it doesn’t fall within these limits. TUTORIALS: Super-Stretchy Cast On, Kitchener Stitch/Grafting photo tutorials. A full glossary is included. Photographic and written instructions for tricky concepts. SKILLS YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE THIS PATTERN: Knit, purl, make a gauge swatch in Stockinette Stitch. SUPPLIES: 2-3 50g/1.76 oz skeins sock yarn. Suggestions: Patons Kroy Socks (151.8 m/166.0 yds) or Knit Picks Stroll Fingering (211 m/231 yds). Set of four 3.25 mm (US 3) double-pointed needles (OPT. –Two circular needles of this size instead of dpns—see Notes) OR size needed to obtain gauge; yarn needle; scrap of yarn for marker Printing Suggestion: If you choose to print this pattern, it will be easiest to follow if you print it double-sided and staple it down the left side in booklet form. Also, choose the "Print Actual Size" option in your print dialogue box to make sure the sewing patterns are printed accurately. ------ Your file will be available for download as soon as you complete purchase.
