What could be cuter than a sweet cardigan - for a boy or a girl - decorated with bright colored jelly beans? These simple stitches combine to give an interesting architectural look to the sweater, while being easy enough for a novice knitter. Great introduction to stranded colorwork (Fair Isle). The sweater is playful and sweet. Garter stitch cuffs are designed to be turned up if sleeves are too long; the child can grow into it. The body is in stockinette stitch and the yoke is a simple ribbed pattern. Note: Sweater in photo is size 4, on a 2 year old child. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Colorwork knitting in the round (for the sleeves) GAUGE 20 stitches and 26 rows = 4 inches in stocking stitch SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Child sizes 2 [4, 6, 8] years

I have been knitting on and off since my teens, but became somewhat obsessed with it in 2007. I love squishy wools for the short, mild Los Angeles winters, and like cottons and blends for the rest of the year. I really believe that even beginner knitters can create something beautiful and useful, so I strive to keep patterns simple yet original. I am Goodstuff on Ravelry, and blog from time to time about knitting and life here: I have sold designs to Interweave Knits, Knitpicks, Creative Knitting magazine, KNIT magazine (Yarn Forward), Yarn magazine, Knit Now magazine, Classic Elite Yarns, The Sanguine Gryphon, and Three Irish Girls Yarns.
