I've always made things as long as I can remember. Both my Mom and Dad were"makers", so it just was what you did! The handcrafted item was always respected and expected in my family. Mom taught me how to knit, which was a challenge, as she was left-handed and I'm right-handed! Knitting is the one art and craft that I always return to through the years. My other favorites are marbling, bookbinding, calligraphy and beading. It's especially fun to try and combine all of my favorites into one design! I can add sewing to the favorites list again after taking the "Couture Dress" class on Craftsy - I hadn't sewn for myself in a long time because fitting and the way patterns are done frustrated me to no end - the class gave me a whole new way to approach sewing and I'm enjoying it again.
