PATTERN DETAILS

This simple lace pattern is easy to memorize and easy to work. When you reach the ruffles, the pattern grows seamlessly from lace to increases that create the ruffles. The weight of the alpaca and soy fiber blend of this yarn creates a wonderful drape, which allows the ruffles to hang beautifully. The original yarn is discontinued, but any laceweight with lots of drape will work. I recommend Classic Elite Silky Alpaca Lace. This scarf is worked in two parts from the center outward. You begin with a provisional cast on, then work the first half toward the ruffle, binding off loosely. The provisional cast on will then be picked up and the second half worked toward the other end. This is a great time to learn a provisional cast on! I started sewing when I was a toddler on one of those drilled out boards where you use a shoelace and sew the outline of a fish or a duck. Once I could wield scissors I started sewing dresses for my dolls. I added crochet when I was 8, cross stitching when I was 10, beading at 11, and knitting at 16. And I started binding books in college.
