Pattern Details

This mitered shawl made from left over sock yarn is a fantastic way to use stash and create a one-of-a-kind shawl. No two will look alike. There is no sewing at the end - the diamonds are attached together as you go by picking up stitches along the side of a preceding diamond. You will also have to cast on stitches for the side diamonds. You can mix different yarns in each diamond, so it doesn't matter if you have enough yarn to make an entire diamond from the same yarn. It is easy to add stripes and add variety to your shawl. You may not have enough variety of yarn to make this really colorful. It is fun to trade small amounts of sock yarn with your friends, and then everyone's stash is enhanced with more color and variety. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit, pick up stitches, make decreases, single crochet edging GAUGE In garter stitch: 28 stitches/4 inches; 28 ridges/4 inches. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 71 inches wide by 36.5 inches long at center
