These socks are the first in a series of patterns inspired by one of the greatest sitcoms of all time: How I Met Your Mother. This design is based on Ted Mosby's character and was knit for my dear Fiasco (a.k.a. fiance), who often displays his own hopeless-romantic, Ted-like tendencies. The pattern includes a photo tutorial detailing steps for knitting the cuff sideways and picking up the stitches for the rest of the sock. The body of the sock involves an easy-to-remember combination of textured ribbing, slipped stitches, and cables, as well as a garter stitch heel and toe. The pattern is both written and charted and includes instructions for three sizes that can be worked at three different gauges with fingering, sport, or DK weight yarn to fit a variety of foot sizes. The sample shown was knit in BMFA Socks That Rock Heavyweight (DK) yarn, knit in size 1 to fit a man's 10.5" circumference foot. This pattern has been test knitted. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit purl cable three needle bind-off graft GAUGE fingering - 8 sts/inch, 12 rounds/inch in stockinette in the round sport - 7.5 sts/inch, 11 rounds/inch in stockinette in the round DK - 6 sts/inch, 12 rounds/inch in stockinette in the round SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 7.5" to 11.5" circumference foot

Hi! My name is Alicia. I'm a knitting ecologist with a weakness for socks, shawls, and shiny pretty yarn. My designs reflect what I like to knit: simple, easy-to-work patterns appropriate for knitters-on-the-go that result in elegant, wearable garments. Other than knitting I love poetry, books, music, and science. I'm engaged to a wonderful guy (a.k.a. the Fiasco) and we have a very sweet cat, Calypso, and new kitten, Darwin.
