PATTERN DETAILS

This shawl resembles the Bead Lightning Shawl excepting that it comes in one size and there are only charts and no written instructions to follow. Sometimes inspiration for a new design hits you like a bolt of lightning...literally! As I was sitting on my balcony with some maroon yarn and matching beads struggling to come up with a unique design, a flash of lightning struck nearby. Thankfully, instead of the lightning, an idea struck me! Bead lightning! Lightning in which the intensity appears to vary along the path and which resembles a string of beads! I have named this piece "Fallgora" as a little play on words for the Roman goddess of lightning, "Fulgora." The pattern appears as panels of vertical and horizontal bolts of lightning when it is worn. Great for a beginner to become familiar with working with lace and beads and an advanced knitter who likes elegance and the drape that beads lend. Beads are strung before knitting. Approximately 590 seed beads, size 6. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY stringing beads, placing beads, yarn overs, GAUGE 32 sts 40 rows = 4 inches on US 5/3.75mm. Correct gauge is not critical for this project. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Length - 58 inches Width -17 inches

The love that I have for knitting and the pure joy that it brings me has been passed down to me from both my mother and my grandmother. Decades later, my passion for knitting has only deepened. I know that knitting will always be an intrinsic part of my life, and I am excited to conjure up new ideas, designs and projects. Besides knitting I love crocheting, cross-stitching, sewing, cooking, listening to music, watching movies, etc, etc, etc.--I wish a day was longer sometimes! I find indulging in creative pursuits is very therapeutic and relaxing much like yoga.
