Pattern Details

"Espalier" is a French term referring to the method of training a tree or plant to grow flat against a wall or trellis. The beautiful stitch pattern used for these two bags is reminiscent of the "Belgian Fence" pattern used in espalier and is highlighted by a pretty spray of long stitches that give a floral or leaf effect. They are wonderful Spring/Summer bags. Make several in different colors!! Directions for the bags include complete instructions for lining both bags (which is recommended). The Hipster Bag can be made with an adjustable fabric strap. The Tote Bag can be made with one long shoulder strap or two shorter straps. You can also use leather straps, instructions are included for making them removable so you can wash the bag and also so you only have to purchase one set of straps and swap them between bags (because you'll want to make more than one!). The Hipster Bag shown was made with CotLin yarn by Knit Picks (www.knitpicks.com). The Tote Bag shown was made with Cotton Ease by Lion Brand Yarn.
