PATTERN DETAILS

I love projects that contain both interesting and simple knitting. This shawl starts off along the bottom edge, and the lace is worked first. There is patterning on both sides, but there are rest rows in the lace pattern, as well. After the lace is worked, we move on to the soothing rhythm of stockinette, but the stripes keep it from becoming boring. The shawl is decreased down to just a few stitches at the top middle, so finishing is super easy and quick. The lace border was inspired by a cardigan my grandma knit for my mom, back when Mom was a teenager. I've been wearing that sweater since I was in high school, and I find it comforting. This is a great shawl for tossing around the shoulders or neck any time. It can be casual enough to wear with jeans, or fancy enough to wear with a dress. The colors and lace make me feel bubbly and happy -- effervescent. Happy knitting!
