PATTERN DETAILS

I created this 60"x 72" throw pattern based on my popular "Chocolate Buttons" pillow cover which I designed some time ago and which uses this cable http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/knitting/home-decor/chocolate-buttons-cable-pillow-cover/42519 The blanket is knit using a double thickness worsted/#4/aran yarn, or you could substitute a super bulky/super chunky/#6 yarn. This is really quite a straightforward pattern for the beginner knitter who has some familiarity working a simple cable. It calls for a circular needle (rows knit back and forth) to accommodate the large number of stitches and a cable needle. If you have the patience to work on one project for a long time, you should have no trouble with this pattern and will have a beautiful heirloom for your family to enjoy for years to come. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit purl cable GAUGE 4"x4" (10 x 10 cm) on 8mm/US#11 = 16 stitches and 20 rows SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 60"x72" (152 X 182cm) SUGGESTED YARN 4620 yards of Worsted weight

Recommended with this pattern

  • cable needle
  • 8mm/US#11 circular needle
  • large-eyed blunt sewing needle

Originally from the UK, and after almost 13 years in Texas, I now live in beautiful Colorado with my husband and sons. Easily outnumbered by boys in my house, I am queen of my little realm, hence the title Ladyship! Ever since my Mum taught me to knit and sew I have loved the creative process and experimenting with design. I find pillow covers to be the perfect way to combine my love of design and the textures that can be created with a single strand of yarn. I especially love experimenting with cable patterns.
