This pattern offers versatility--as I like my patterns to do! You can work the scarf in lace weight with one strand (very delicate) or two (as in the model), or use fingering or sport weight if you like. Matching beret can be worked using two strands lace weight (as in the model) or with fingering or sport weight yarn as well--choose your favorite! Yardage given below is for working both pieces with two strands of lace weight held together, as in the model. A heavier yarn will only need half the amount. Scarf is worked back and forth from one end to the other, and beret is worked in the round from the bottom up. Pattern includes both charts and written instructions. GAUGE 1 repeat of pattern (14 rows/23 sts) approx. 2.5" high x 5" wide (blocked) SUGGESTED YARN 880 yards of Lace weight PREFERRED BRAND/YARN Knit Picks Gloss Lace COLORWAY Black

I knit, crochet, sew, quilt, take photos, draw, and do other crafts as well. I adore alpaca wool and other natural materials (cotton, feathers, gourds, wood, and even coconut shells!) and try to do some crafting every day. A couple of years ago, I began designing knit and crochet items (I confess that I am somewhat addicted to, love, love hats and have made many for gifts, to donate, and once in while for myself). Small items that work up quickly and travel easily, like hats, wrist warmers, and scarves, seem to be on many people's lists, although I also love making shawls and larger fashion items, as well as toys and dolls. Really, I suppose I haven't come across anything I won't at least try, and I hope you are adventurous in your work, too!
