This is a pattern for an adorable pair of knit Designer Baby Boat Shoes. I took inspiration from a pair of trendy tri-colour mens boat shoes. Perfecr project for spring and summer. A quick project, suitable for confident beginners. Makes a great gift. The pattern features a garter stitch sole and contrast sides and top band and a lovely simple I-cord detail. Experiment with different colours and also try them in wool. Why not make a few pairs to go with different outfits? All you need 5 ply cotton or bamboo baby yarn in two colours and some knitting needles in size 4mm or US 6 This is a flat knit pattern. Pattern comes in 2 sizes: birth to 3 months and 3 to 6 months. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit purl I-cord GAUGE 24st and 28 rows make 10cm or 4" square SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS newborn to 3 months 3 to 6 months PREFERRED BRAND/YARN cotton bamboo or blends COLORWAY red, white, black but you can be creative

I am a fashion/ textile designer and mother of six children. Over time I have designed and knitted as well as sewn hundreds of items of baby and childrens clothing. I am a designer specializing in innovative and practical children's wear that is timeless and understated. Sewing, knitting and designing for babies and children gives me special joy and freedom to be playful, nostalgic and quirky. I prefer natural yarns and fabrics as these don't just feel and look good, they also perform very well when used for children's garments. My belief is that children's wear should be fun, practical and comfortable as well as easy to care for. I am a highly creative person and there are a lot of artists, designers as well as dressmakers in my family and my great grandfather who was as a sewing machine engineer... Nothing quite compares with making something for your little one yourself. I encourage everyone with the urge to have a go. It's fun and a lot easier than you think! One of my daughters knitted a very simple blanket for her baby brother when she was 10 years old. It is by no means perfect but it has become a very special prized possession that both her and her brother will cherish for years to come. Empower yourself and have a go!
