This idea came about after a joke my Dad kept making, about cutting the tip off of the index finger of a pair of gloves so he could keep them on when out taking photos. I have designed the gloves to avoid getting those little holes at the base of the fingers and thumbs that you often end up with when knitting gloves, as I hate having to close these all up after! As my Dad's camera has a wheel on the back, I left the tip of the thumb free too for ease of use. However, they are also very useful when using an iPhone or smartphone! Because of the way the pattern is knitted, you can decide which fingertips you want to keep free (if any). These gloves are a snug fit, however I would recommend your recipient trying them on as you are making them as everyone's fingers are different lengths. Step by step the pattern talks you through the process to make a very well fitted pair of gloves! With the option of leaving any fingertips free these are suitable for gamers, photographers, or anyone that likes to be able to use their phone easily in the winter. My mum taught me to knit when I was 5 - I have early memories of sitting with a skein around my wrists while she wound it into a ball. I had a big imagination though and I suppose got interested in other things until I was older. When I was 21, I found myself at a houseparty, and one of the girls there had a bag of knitting. I thought it was so cool, I made her remind me there and then, and since that evening I’ve been hooked. I love the whole process of buying a ball of yarn and turning it into a beautiful garment. I’ve been blogging since 2008 about life, art and things I have been making and selling, and I have been designing for the last couple of years. I trained in pattern cutting and dressmaking and found that the skills I learnt developed into an urge to design knitwear. I’m currently putting patterns together my first book, some of which you can buy here or on my website. I also have a Ravelry group where people can share pictures of my designs, I would love for you to join! You can connect with me on Twitter, see what inspires me on Pinterest, and follow my blog at
