Color Mix Cowls What happens when you knit one skein of a solid or subtly tonal yarn and mix in one skein of a vibrant self-striping yarn? Add just a bit of alternating stitches and colors in a few rows and knit it as a Moebius or Infinity Cowl? It becomes a scrumptious, two-color cowl, mixing color and texture in an introduction to stranded knitting. If you've ever wanted to try knitting with two colors of yarn, this is a good way to begin. The self-striping yarn does all the color changes for you so there aren't any joins to worry about. The colors pop off the solid or tonal background. Knit as the Moebius, because of the twist, the stranded rounds are visible on both sides as part of the design. The pattern is also written as an Infinity Cowl, with no twist. It's a luxurious, warm cowl that is 6 1/2" wide x 56" in circumference and a very rewarding knit. This is a worsted weight project. Any worsted weight yarns may be substituted in this design. Note: For the Moebius version, 47" circular needles are essential. For the Infinity version, a comfortable length is 24" or 32". Thank you! Hi! I'm Diane L. Augustin and I am Yarn Happy - Bead Happy I teach knitting, crocheting and Tunisian crochet classes at several yarn shops and art centers in the Minneapolis/St. Paul/St. Croix Valley area. One of my passions is knitting and crocheting with beads. I also manage the daily activities and teach classes at ThunderWillow Community Arts in Hudson, WI. I have classes at Ramsay County and Hudson libraries, as well as through Hudson Community Education. I often conduct workshops and demonstrations at special events and festivals in the area. I have been teaching professionally for seven years. My background as a graphic artist in the publishing industry facilitates my ability to design, write, produce and publish my patterns. I am also the photographer. I continuously develop new designs, offering them as classes, with a focus on teaching techniques. I learned to knit continental or combination style at seven years old from my grandmother, who had to teach me in order to get her own knitting back from me! I live in western WI, just outside of Hudson, with my husband, Lance and the boss of the household, Thomas Edison, our stray kitty who came to stay. I am Yarn Happy Bead Happy! I hope my designs will become your favorites. I am Yarn Happy Bead Happy! My pattern was published in the newly released book, [North Shore Knits][2], produced by [Three Irish Girls][3].
