A fun, basic hat pattern that shows off some fabulous coils art yarn framed between black ribbing & crown. Two types of crown shaping included, pointy top or rounded crown. Pattern calls for one skein of Treasured Coils Handspun art yarn, but you could use approx 50 yards of any art yarn combined with less than half a skein of worsted weight yarn. Looser than usual gauge for the worsted weight yarn yields a nice stretchy pattern and lets the art yarn slouch and create a lovely hat! BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Cast on, knit in the round, purl, decrease Knit 2 Together (K2Tog), bind off. GAUGE Not horribly important, but try to get close. A different gauge will mean different yarn quantities. Coils Yarn: 14 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette stitch (3.5 stitches to the inch) Really any gauge of the art yarn will work since hat is slouchy & stretchy. Work more on the Worsted Weight gauge below. Worsted Weight Yarn: 15 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette stitch (3.75 stitches to the inch) Worsted weight yarn is knit looser than usual on these needles, it should be a slightly relaxed fabric. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Will fit most teens to adults. Hat is very stretchy with a ribbed edge.
