Chunky Brioche Cowl (with a Moebius Twist) This pattern is the Chunky weight version of the Super Bulky Brioche Cowl. This pattern has a very simple form of the brioche stitch. There are so many wonderful baby alpaca and other chunky yarn choices available, every one of them will be extra luxurious when knit in the stitch. Give it a try and enjoy! Knit this delightfully soft and warm chunky cowl in just a few hours. The finished size is 8 inches x 26 inches in circumference. Misti Alpaca Yarns and Plymouth Yarns offer luxurious baby alpaca yarn in solids, and hand paints from which to choose. Pictured: Cowl knit in Plymouth Yarn Baby Alpaca Grand Hues, #7051 and Misti Alpaca Yarns with color CP24, Magic Flute. The gauge is 2 1/2 stitches to the inch in brioche rib stitch. Plymouth Yarns has solids, hand paints, tweeds and even a sparkly version of chunky baby alpaca. It is an ideal project for approximately 100 yards of the many chunky yarn choices available. For a video tutorial of one of the knit below technique used in this pattern, please go to this website: Note: Consider making your own chunky yarn by holding two strands of worsted weight yarn together. I've just knit two cowls, one using a double strand of Eco Duo and the other with a double strand of Coffee Beenz. Both had beautiful results. Enjoy! Another Note: For a seamless join, begin with the provisional cast on method and graft the ends together with the Kitchner stitch. You will need to knit two rows for the set up, then begin the K1, K1 below pattern. Hi! I'm Diane L. Augustin and I am Yarn Happy - Bead Happy I teach knitting, crocheting and Tunisian crochet classes at several yarn shops and art centers in the Minneapolis/St. Paul/St. Croix Valley area. One of my passions is knitting and crocheting with beads. I also manage the daily activities and teach classes at ThunderWillow Community Arts in Hudson, WI. I have classes at Ramsay County and Hudson libraries, as well as through Hudson Community Education. I often conduct workshops and demonstrations at special events and festivals in the area. I have been teaching professionally for seven years. My background as a graphic artist in the publishing industry facilitates my ability to design, write, produce and publish my patterns. I am also the photographer. I continuously develop new designs, offering them as classes, with a focus on teaching techniques. I learned to knit continental or combination style at seven years old from my grandmother, who had to teach me in order to get her own knitting back from me! I live in western WI, just outside of Hudson, with my husband, Lance and the boss of the household, Thomas Edison, our stray kitty who came to stay. I am Yarn Happy Bead Happy! I hope my designs will become your favorites. I am Yarn Happy Bead Happy! My pattern was published in the newly released book, [North Shore Knits][2], produced by [Three Irish Girls][3]. The book is composed of patterns by local designers, inspired by the fantastic new color ways created by Three Irish Girls.
