Carre is a classical looking cardigan but with an unconventional construction, in one piece and nearly completely seamless (only a little sewing at the wrong side for the pockets). The body is worked top down, starting with a provisional cast-on. All waist shaping is done in the center stockinette section. The large bands are worked all around - hence the name carre (square) - and hide 2 pockets. You will need 3 or more circular needles to work them. The invisible sleeve inset is inspired by the contiguous sleeve method developed by Susie Myers. All techniques used (provisional cast on, different ways of increasing) are explained in full detail including diagrams and illustrations. I am a graphic designer with a weakness for everything that's handmade, especially textile- and yarnrelated. I have always been designing all kinds of things : clothes, knitwear, small furniture ... I like to experiment with shapes and textures, always searching for a different approach of constructing a garment. What appeals to me most is using common stitches (knit and purl) and simple, well-thought, clean shapes to make up a design. Most of my patterns are written with charts, illustrations and diagrams (graphics, he he ;).
