The inspiration for this design was a photo of an Eastern Tailed Blue Butterfly. I was captivated by the colors in the wings and just had to design a butterfly blanket. The blanket could also easily be a wall hanging, as it is so graphic. Like the other blankets in this series, it is knit with doubled strands of Cascade Yarns Eco+ Peruvian wool yarn, with a touch of doubled Cascade 220 for the duplicate stitched gold wing spots. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit, purl, inc, dec, double dec, duplicate stitch GAUGE 14 sts and 20 rows = 4" (10 cm) with 2 strands yarn held together and size 10.5 ndls or size to give gauge. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Width across upper left wing tip to upper right wing tip: 51" Length of butterfly body (center): 27" Width across lower left wing tip to lower right wing tip: 35"
