Pattern Details

The Brookside Blanket knitting pattern is named for the neighborhood where I grew up in the Kansas City, Missouri area. The grid inspired knitting pattern reminds me of the orderly neighborhood streets with charming homes that date back to the 1920's. The Brookside Blanket is knit with super bulky weight yarn so it is quick to knit on big needles. Knit flat, in one piece, back and forth on US size 13 circular knitting needles. INSTRUCTIONS FOR SIX SIZES: Baby: 25” wide x 31” long Small (Crib/Lap): 32.5” wide x 38” long Medium: 39.5” wide x 41.5” long Large: 43” wide x 52” long XL: 46.5” wide x 55.5” long XXL: 50” wide x 59” long Any of the blanket sizes may be made longer by adding pattern repeats. Each pattern repeat adds about 3.5" to the length of the blanket. For a throw size blanket, approximately 55 yards of yarn is required for each additional pattern sequence. Blocking of finished knitting is recommended. SUPER BULKY YARN: Baby: 335 - 350 yards Small: 480 - 510 yards Medium: 640 - 680 yards Large: 900 - 940 yards XL: 1050 - 1100 yards XXL: 1200 - 1250 yards NEEDLES: In order to accommodate the large number of stitches, long circular needles are highly recommended. I have been knitting since I was about 8 years old. My mother taught me to knit and my parents encouraged me to explore all kinds of arts & crafts activities by providing me with the materials that I needed to create. As a girl, I loved to sew (I spent hours using my mother’s sewing machine making clothes for my dolls), knit, draw and paint. In high school I spent all my extra time at school hanging out in the art room. In college I worked at a cute little yarn shop. Many years later...I started designing and publishing knitting patterns in November 2013...I love it! I love giving hand knit gifts to my friends and family. I love to see the smile on their faces when they open the gift I made for them. I hope that you enjoy using my knitting patterns to create special projects for your home, friends & family.
