Pattern Details

When I first moved to New England, I lived in Boston. Winters there were cold and windy, and this top-down hooded coat would have been the perfect survival gear. It's got a roomy hood which blocks the elements, but looks great when not in use. The yarn I used recommended a gauge of 3.5 stitches to the inch, but I knit it slightly tighter (3.75 stitches) to give it a more dense fabric; keep this in mind if you're planning on substituting. GAUGE 15 sts and 21 rows = 4" (10 cm) in St st SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS XXS (21.25") to 7X (74.25")

Recommended with this pattern

  • Bulky weight wool, 1275 yds - 2625 yds
  • Four size 10 (6 mm) circular needles, 32" long or longer
  • Size 10 (6 mm) circular needle, 12" long or longer, and one set of five double-pointed needles, for Sleeves
