The Beaufort Scale is the empirical measurement of wind speed. Often thought more about at hurricane forces, a light breeze is categorized as a 2. This cowl is designed for Anzula's Breeze, a lace weight linen and silk blend, and lives up to the name being lightweight and perfect for warm days. The yarn has little memory and and lots of stretch. The lace repeats are easy to memorize and fairly mindless, making it a great take-along project. 3 size options are given, the largest being shown. 240 -700 yards. No gauge is given because it changes so wildly before and after blocking. This does mean your finished dimensions can be different than those given and it is suggested to make a small swatch in the round, block, and measure stitches to calculate potential growth of the final project. The single/double/triple refer to wrapping ability, a triple can easily wrap up to 3 times and is shown full length, doubled, and tripled. Be very careful to cast on loosely, if using the Long Tail cast on space the stitches apart from each other rather than smooshed on the needle together. (Going up a needle size will not allow room to grow.) Beaufort Scale is easily customizable for different weight yarns, and lends itself well to substitution. Many thanks to Chris Church (rchrispy), tech editor. If sanity counts, count me out. I'm a homeschooling mom of 3 who knits and crochets, teaches that knitting and crocheting, and designs patterns for knitting and crocheting.
