Balin is a unisex sock pattern in two sizes worked top-down with a cable pattern on the front and double seed stitch on the back. The pattern continues onto the heel flap. The socks are nished with a spiral toe that doesn't require grafting. The cables will be shown to best advantage in a solid or semi-solid yarn. The pattern has a moderate amount of stretch but it is recommended to try on the sock as you knit to ensure a good fit. Both charted and written instructions are included. This pattern is available as a single download. It is also published in the ebook collection, Homestead Cables: BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Basic knitting skills Knitting in the round with dpns/circular ndls Increases/decreases Working intermediate cables from chart or written instructions Knowledge of conventional sock construction GAUGE Gauge After Blocking 32 stitches / 46 rows = 4in / 10cm in stockinette on #1.5 (2.5mm) needles SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Sizing: Adult S-M/L Socks shown are size S-M and are modeled on a Men's size 8 foot.
