Pattern Details

A sweet little cardigan pattern with a double moss stitch detail and single button closure. Simple and quick to knit, you can finish this one in a couple of evenings. The perfect thing to wear over babies best dress. Using self striping wool will give interesting effects, but it will look just as nice in a plain colour. This cardigan will fit from 1 to about 6 months of age. All you need is 50 g 3 ply baby wool and a set of 3.75mm or US5 knitting needles. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit purl simple shaping GAUGE 28st and 36 rows make 10cm or 4 inch square SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS size 1 to 6 months PREFERRED BRAND/YARN baby or sock yarn COLORWAY your choice of self striping yarn

I prefer natural yarns and fabrics as these don't just feel and look good, they also perform very well when used for children's garments. My belief is that children's wear should be fun, practical and comfortable as well as easy to care for. I am a highly creative person and there are a lot of artists, designers as well as dressmakers in my family and my great grandfather who was as a sewing machine engineer... Nothing quite compares with making something for your little one yourself. I encourage everyone with the urge to have a go. It's fun and a lot easier than you think! One of my daughters knitted a very simple blanket for her baby brother when she was 10 years old. It is by no means perfect but it has become a very special prized possession that both her and her brother will cherish for years to come. Empower yourself and have a go!
