Pattern Details

An extra cute little cardigan pattern with a reverse collar,pockets, garter stitch detail and shell button closure. Simple and quick to knit, you can finish this one in a couple of evenings. The collar is really easy to do, it just looks complicated! The perfect thing to wear between seasons and suitable for both baby girls and boys. Using self striping wool will give interesting effects, but it will look just as nice in a plain colour. This cardigan will fit from 0 to about 6 months of age. All you need is 100 g 4 ply baby wool and a set of 3.75mm or US5 knitting needles. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit purl garter stitch buttonhole simple increase and decrease mattress stitch GAUGE 28st and 36 rows make 10cm square SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS will fit from birth up to 6 months generous fit PREFERRED BRAND/YARN baby wool yarn will be nice in cotton too COLORWAY natural colours, earth tones

I am a designer specializing in innovative and practical children's wear that is timeless and understated. Sewing, knitting and designing for babies and children gives me special joy and freedom to be playful, nostalgic and quirky. I prefer natural yarns and fabrics as these don't just feel and look good, they also perform very well when used for children's garments. My belief is that children's wear should be fun, practical and comfortable as well as easy to care for. I am a highly creative person and there are a lot of artists, designers as well as dressmakers in my family and my great grandfather who was as a sewing machine engineer... Nothing quite compares with making something for your little one yourself. I encourage everyone with the urge to have a go. It's fun and a lot easier than you think! One of my daughters knitted a very simple blanket for her baby brother when she was 10 years old. It is by no means perfect but it has become a very special prized possession that both her and her brother will cherish for years to come. Empower yourself and have a go!
