I have has a few requests to design a version of my children's shoe patterns, but for babies. So I have scaled down the pattern. This is the plain version, and there will be a two-coloured version with stocking stitch, which is in the pipeline. These baby shoes are knitted on two needles, in one piece, with one short seam to sew up. They are an easy knit. They can be knitted with any doubleknit wool. On the pattern I have recommended the wools that I used for knitting my samples, all Sirdar, as these worked well. They use a small needle 2.5 mm for doubleknit wool, which makes the shoes quite firm. I wanted them to feel a bit like a felted shoe, rather than a loose sock. i have a few individual pairs of shoes for sale in my Etsy shop if you would like to buy a pair already knitted. All pairs for sale are unique. You can find my shop through the link in my blog. The pattern comes in two sizes, 0-3 months, and 3-6 months. Instructions for both these sizes are in this one pattern, but written out separately, as I find patterns with brackets a bit confusing. I couldn't decide whether the shoes looked nicer plain or with decoration, so have put photos on of both. I really like the simplicity of the plain shoes, but if you want to add a little bit of embroidery to make them into Baby Bee Shoes, or Little Paws, the pattern tells you how to find my blog which has photo tutorials on the stitches you will need. You will need approx 20g of wool for a pair of the small shoes, and 25g for the larger ones. Please do whatever you want with any shoes you make! They would make a great baby shower gift. The inspiration for my knitting patterns often comes from nature. I love little knitting projects, and try my hardest to be realistic with my plant and animal designs. Often my projects start from something very personal: my own house or my husband's first car. Then I develop them into something that I think will be appealing. I live on the outskirts of London, and work part-time at a local school. My own children are always doing something creative. At school I love the days when we get really messy.
