This is a very special kind of hat pattern with infinite possibilities. Have you ever read one of those make-your-own endings books? This hat pattern is inspired by the freedom of choice! Instructions are provided for several varieties of brims body shapes, and crown decreases. You'll follow along choosing between ribbed, rolled, or seed stitch brim, then choose beanie, beret or slouchy body style, and finish with a beanie, ruched, stocking or beret crown. Do it different, every time. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY working in the round basic increasing & decreasing GAUGE 20 sts and 27 rows per 4 inches in stockinette on larger needles SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Finished Circumference: 9.5(10.75, 12, 14.5, 16.75, 19.25, 21.5)" Size: Preemie(Newborn, Baby, Toddler, Child, Adult Small, Adult Large)

  • worsted weight yarn: 45(60, 75, 100, 130, 170, 215) yards for beanie 50(75, 95, 130, 170, 218, 270) yards for slouch 70(85, 105, 135, 175, 225, 275) yards for stocking 50(75, 90, 120, 160, 200, 250) yards for beret
  • Size 6(4 mm) and Size 7(4.5 mm) 16" circular needles and set of 5 DPNs, stitch marker, tapestry needle
  • Notions: Two 3/4-1 inch buttons if desired, as shown in the ribbed beanie sample

Kate's When I Grow Up line is for those of us who are not tots, featuring a modern classic style. Kate also strives to add specifically to the growing body of knits for boys as she has three of her own! You can find her patterns at your local yarn store or online. She also does freelance work for a variety of publications. In her non-knitting life, Kate has just finished up a PhD in Political Science from the University of Florida. She lives with her family in South Carolina, which includes husband Ryan, Jesse, Charlie & Oliver (3 very handsome Tot Topper's models) and beloved dogs Cooper and Lou.
