I entered this pattern into a design contest for Country Woman Magazine.I did not win the contest, but they did publish the pattern in their April/May 2010 issue and it is now available for free. The sweater is worked flat from the bottom up in once piece to the sleeves beginning with a picot hem. The fronts/back are then worked separately and joined at the shoulders using a 3 needle bind off. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armhole and worked from the top down on DPN's (or magic loop) ending with a corresponding picot hem The lace section is charted and pattern includes separate charts for each size. A simple mock cable stitch is worked as a transition between the lace body and stockinette stitch bodice. If you are not comfortable with the crochet edging, you can also work a knitted edge by picking up stitches around the edge and working a simple YO, K2tog edging to achieve a similar look. Check out my Ravelry site for more project pictures of this pattern. I retired from teaching several years ago to help my daughter with daycare. Her 3 boys keep me busy during the day but my nights are all mine! I enjoy teaching knitting at my LYS and designing knitwear. You can find me on Ravelry as onlygrandsons.
