This set is knit in the round, so the stockinette stitch uses only the knit (k) stitch. The headwarmer can be used as a neckwarmer when the hat is worn, or the headwarmer can be used as a decorative brim over the hat (also providing extra warmth for the ears). The yarn is so soft! This is a great set for the winter runner! Directions are also given in the pattern for a Turkish Cast-On and a Kitchener Stitch for binding off. If you have never tried them before, they are wonderful techniques to know (there are many videos on the Internet to provide visual instructions if you do a search). I have been knitting for 60 years and since the grandchildren arrived have been knitting daily. I decided I wanted to create easy predominantly seamless knitting projects because I love knitting in the round, and more important I hate to sew pieces together! I have had many wonderful comments from knitters who have created items from my patterns and like their finished projects, but should you come across a flaw or something that doesn't seem quite right in the instructions, I hope you will contact me! Contact me at with any of your questions or concerns. You are free to sell your finished items, but please give me credit for the pattern. Thank you and happy knitting!
