Class Overview

If you know how to knit and purl, then you have the basic skills you need to create a number of gorgeous patterns. Join designer and instructor Jill Wolcott and learn how you can combine knit and purl stitches to create beautiful styles, invigorating textures and new possibilities in familiar techniques. During class, you'll find out how knit and purl patterns really function, so you can substitute eye-catching stitch patterns in place of stockinette. Along the way, you'll discover how to work a variety of exciting, new stitch patterns — from a fabulous welt stitch to radiant, reversible ribbing — creating a knit strip with each. Jill will also lay out how edges function in different borders and joins and how these combinations affect gauge and drape. Plus, you'll have the chance to combine your beautiful strips into a one-of-a-kind throw blanket!

Jill Wolcott's fiber career is driven by a passion for fashionable knitting. That same passion led her and her sister to start the online hub Y2Knit in 2001. Through Y2Knit, Jill designed and published nearly 200 patterns, led online classes and ran workshops all over, from Washington to Tuscany. After a decade, the sisters brought Y2Knit to a close, but today, Jill continues to share her passion through Jill Wolcott Knits, Craftsy classes and her yarn collection with Meadow Mountain Wool: The Powder River Collection.
