Wire Weaving - Necklace

Project Description

Who is this project for? Women What are you most proud of? The even wrapping, visual balance of each peace and splicing of the 24 gauge wire while weaving. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Start with a simple shape and use 2 sections of 16 or 18 gauge wires - don't put small bends in the area you will be weaving on your first piece. If you don't have a ring clamp (they are around $10) then use a padded hand clamp or painters tape to hold the beginning of the wires together while getting the weaving started. Watch the tiny area you are working in and keep the 24 gage wire snug as you are wrapping around the larger wire. Remember "over - under" and keep the pattern and you will do fine. I've taught this pendant in class and everyone really enjoyed making this and after they got the flow of the weaving said it was very zen like. If you want to add beads make them small - seed beads or E size.

Wonderful fluid designs. I'm a basketmaker who just discovered wire wrapping in August. Can't wait to try this! Thank you for sharing.

you will be a natural for this then - as an old basket maker myself I can say it helped a lot
