Stone setting practice

Project Description

Who is this project for? Women What advice would you give someone starting this project? Practice using the syringe before you set the stones. Its not hard, but you do have to get use to how the clay comes out. The earrings are from a mold of an antique button--its a fast and easy way to make a piece. The butterflies on the square pendant are punched out of a PMC sheet using a scrapbook punch. Look around your craft room, you'll find lots of things you already have that can be used with metal clay.

What you will need

  • PMC3 regular clay
  • syringe and sheet clay. Blue spinel cabochon
  • red corundum and peridot CZ.

TallulahBleu asked:
These are beautiful - I have been afraid to use stones for fear something bad will happen, but you have inspired me!
sterling4d179619 answered:
Thank you. It's a lot of fun, but make sure your stones can be fired. Some can be torch fired, some only in a kiln & some you can't fire at all. Also, remember not to qwench your piece after firing. ( I forgot the first time and fractured the stone.)
